Casting News Drops for Stephen King’s Mercy

It sometimes doesn’t take much to light the internet up on fire. The other day some news hit the web concerning casting news for the upcoming Stephen King adaptation, MERCY, and it seems everyone got very excited. Actors from THE WALKING DEAD and SUPER 8 have signed on to MERCY, but which ones?? The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Chandler Riggs (THE WALKING DEAD) and Joel Courtney (SUPER 8) have signed up for the dual starring roles.

MERCY will be directed by Peter Cornwell. Check out the brief plot crunch:

Two brothers (Riggs and Courtney) go with their mother to take care of their grandma. Unbeknownst to them, the grandmother is a witch, who made an evil deal using black magic years earlier.

Frances O’Connor has already signed on to play the mother. MERCY is based on King’s short story “Gramma,” which was first published in WEIRDBOOK magazine in 1984 and was then republished as part of King’s 1985 collection SKELETON CREW.
